Young GWS star Tim Taranto has official requested a trade, after months of speculation regarding Taranto's future at the club he has outlined Richmond and Collingwood as his club of choice. The 24 year old midfielder could be an extremely important addition to both sides. Regardless of how Collingwood finish this season they'll be contending for a flag next year and a young midfielder on the verge of an AA selection could be enough to push them into a serious position to win it all.

Richmond on the other hand are stuck between to eras, they seem to be holding onto players such as Riewoldt and Grimes but with players like Edwards and Lambert retiring it's clear that the Richmond teams of 2017-2020 are a thing of the past. Adding Taranto to a midfield containing Dion Prestia, Shai Bolton, Dustin Martin and other solid contributors would give Richmond a virtually unstoppable amount of physical strength and class in the midfield.
For a player with Taranto's contract it's no small task to move on from them, Collingwood have been heavily criticized for their management of the salary cap in recent years and after being linked to Tom Mitchell as well they'll have to manage their salary cap extremely well. Moving on from Brodie Grundy will be a necessity but with the form that Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox have been in lately it shouldn't be a huge problem.
